Service Opportunities

Harvest Fest is this weekend.  If you know anyone who is involved, they may need help setting up on Fri. morning.  The Adult Center (formerly the Senior Center) is baking pies this week for Harvest Fest and may need help transporting Fri. morning.  Call Kyra at 386-2060 for more information.  She may have some other ideas on how to be involved at the Center, too.

Support our Troops:  The Gorge Heroes Club sends care packages each month to local soldiers.  You can sponsor a package for $12./month, collect items to go into packages, crochet or knit hats, make cards, pack the boxes (4th Wed. night of each month)...   Check out gorgeheroesclub.blogspot.com to see what this great group is doing to support local soldiers and how you can be involved.

The Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child is coming up (Nov. 16-22).  That means, shoeboxes!!  If you would like your group to spearhead this operation, let me (Roxanne  387-3012, willrox@gorge.net) know!

La Clinica has a coat drive in Nov.  It would be a great project for a small group to rally our school to collect a mountain of coats for those in our community who need a little help!

Post your ideas on this blog by hitting comment and following the instructions.  Also, remember we have a facebook page to post your ideas, as well!

Next Meeting: Friday, Oct. 16th

You get to meet with your kids this Friday!  Everyone is so excited; it's been such a long time since the first meeting!  But you get to meet again in another 2 weeks, yeah!

Reminder:  Love 'em and impart a love for serving the lonely, aching, broken, lost...

I've found that staying in the WORD is essential to keeping me able to do the above in any way, shape or form.  So, marinate yourselves this week as you prepare to love on those kids!

First Day! Facebook Page!

I was expecting total chaos, but God had other plans! Thanks for your patience and faithful commitment to our kids! They were so excited to have small groups today and to see you today! It means a lot to them that many of you have stayed connected over the summer!

New leaders (and some of you from last year), pick up an application packet from the front desk. You will have to stay on campus until your background check is done- what is this world coming to? Luckily, it's a big building and you can find a little spot to call your own!

I created a Facebook Page (Horizon Christian School Mentors). Check it out and "talk" with other leaders.

I'll be posting service opportunities as they come up.

WELCOME BACK!!

Hood River Valley Adult Center

The Hood River Valley Adult Center (aka Senior Center at 2010 Sterling Place) needs help in two areas and they would love to have our young people involved!

Downstairs, in their Thrift Shop, they need help sorting donations and they are also in need of donations for the Shop.

Upstairs, they are looking for help with their Pie Baking effort for Harvest Fest.

Contact Kyra Rudhe at 386-2060 to set up a time to interact with some of our valley's active seniors!

Here we go!

Another year begins and I am excited to see what God has planned for all of us! I hope this blog will be a great way to communicate with each other. I think you can subscribe to the blog and receive an email when it has been updated and then you won't miss any exciting news (let me know if this works). We'll see how it goes. Practice making a comment, so we can all get used to this format.
